Stellaris: How to add mods manually! (offline) (Windows)

If you’re playing offline and don’t have internet access for Steam to download mods, you can manually download and install mods for Stellaris for offline use permanently. Here’s how:

  1. Open your Documents folder, find and open Paradox Interactive, then navigate to Stellaris. (C:/Users/UsernameHere/Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris)
  2. Create a new folder named “mod“. (Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod)
  3. Download and extract your downloaded mod, it will have a “descriptor.mod” file, and a folder for the mod’s files. Copy both into your folder named “mod“.
  4. Text edit the descriptor.mod file. Change “archive” to “path” and change the directory to the mod’s files folder. (Example: path=”mod/modnamehere”)
(Note: You can probably leave it zipped like so: archive=”mod/modnamehere/modnamehere.zip”)
  5. Rename the descriptor.mod file to your mod’s name. (Example: modnamehere.mod)

So in closing, in the Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod folder you’ll see something like this:

  • amod1 (folder)
  • amod2 (folder)
  • amod3 (folder)
  • amod1.mod
  • amod2.mod
  • amod3.mod

Cheers!
